Great knife, we had already purchased the 8 piece set and simply love it, it's great quality and a beautiful set. The block has enough extra spaces to add more and we are, starting with this knife and at the price we couldn't of went wrong. We love our Anolon Brunello knives and are waiting for more to become available at amazon, so we can purchase them too.
Description of Anolon Brunello 10-Inch Slicer with Hollow-Ground Blade
For cutting meats and cheese into thin, neat slices, without shredding or tearing. The hollow ground edge reduces sticking and drag so that thinner slices may be achieved. Protective sheath included for safe storage.Branching out from its already successful cookware line, Anolon?s Brunello collection features high-grade materials with substantial weight. This slender 10-inch slicer neatly carves roasts or slices meats and cheeses into paper-thin slices without shredding. Great for speedy prep work, the blade is hollow ground with "dimples," which create air pockets that prevent foods from sticking during slicing.
Brunello blades are forged from high-quality, German carbon steel that resists rust and food stains. The stainless steel is ice-hardened for additional strength and longer edge retention. Blades are then polished with glass to produce a sharper cut but an edge that is smoother to the touch. Full tangs and a counter balance cap provide superior balance, while a rounded blade spine adds more comfort during extended periods of prepping. Beautiful handcrafted wood handles show off a rich grain in variegated shades of light and dark. Their ergonomic shape offers a safe, comfortable grip.
This slicer comes with a tiny plastic tip to safely cover its point while resting on the cutting board between slicing tasks. A larger plastic sheath is also included to protect the blade during in-drawer storage.
