I returned this item because he was not what I wanted. I was expecting a big covered heavy duty skillet but it is a big pot that you might boil in or cook soup in etc. Just way too big for my use as other pans I have serve that purpose.

Description of Anolon Advanced Clad 13-Inch 5-1/2 Quart Covered Braiser

Our braiser works equally well on top of the range or in the oven and is not only functional but attractive enough to bring to the table at mealtime. You may use it on the stovetop to sear meat, cook asparagus or grill sandwiches and when it's time for the oven you'll appreciate the wide shallow shape as the pan fits easily in your oven. The pan makes an excellent open roaster, and with the snug fitting lid, you've got a covered roaster that traps steam for moist roasting. The lid is slightly domed to accommodate larger pieces of meat. The stainless steel cooking surface will hold up to the use of metal utensils as well as to cooking with intense heat, considered by most chefs to be the ideal technique for getting maximum caramelization and flavor from meats. The aluminum core means the heat spreads evenly throughout the entire pan.
